Although the Swiss architecture is mainly known for its often ascetic appearance, in recent years the boundaries are shifted. Edelaar Mosayebi Inderbitzin architects rethinks housing and pours it into new forms.

The difficult unity

“In our projects we are looking for the connection between urban design, architectural expression and floor plan, at the same time we mistrust the idea of a rhetoric of the whole, which is why our designs are focused on a precarious, inconsistent and” difficult “whole. Just like Robert Venturi, we believe that ‘for a truly multi-layered structure, the eye – in its search for the unity of the whole – should not be too quickly, not too quickly satisfied.’

In the search for a new whole we work with ‘open’ forms that are free of unambiguous coherence of meaning and rigid concepts. These are condensed by means of associative models and free movement of context references to unstable order. Certainty only exists that things could have been different.”
