Trip

Nord Spain

Nueva simplicidad: part 2
04.04 10.04 2004
Madrid, Pamplona, Bilbao...
Belgium

The last decade brought a wave of architectural renewal in Spain. We were impressed by the quality of work of a new generation of architects working all over Spain.

Second Spanish architecture trip, this time to Bilbao, Santander, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Vitoria and Madrid.

A selection of what we content this architecture tour:
In Pamplona and surrounding area we can not punctuate the work of Patchi Mangado: born in Estella, who graduated in 1981, lecturer in Pamplona / Barcelona, visiting professor at Harvard. The “Baluarte” (Navarra conference center) is currently finishing stage and will be presented during the tour by the architect himself.

In San Sebastian we visit, what must be one of the highlights of the trip, the Kursaal of Moneo. Inspired by the great boulders from the adjacent pier, sleek and powerful, and at night an intriguing beacon on the coast and city. What Bilbao ‘the’ attraction will probably we do not even note: Guggenheim Museum by Frank Gehry

A second trip took place from 11 to 17 April 2004
