Maalstroom

Maalstroom gives students and recent graduates from different creative disciplines a voice in the debate on space and architecture in the broadest sense. We make student work visible, help young designers develop their ideas and contribute to Ghent’s architectural culture. We build an accessible maelstrom of images and ideas that inspire and stimulate interaction between architecture, interior design, landscape and urban planning. This gradually forms a rich foundation for reflections, interventions and public moments. Maalstroom is an incubator of ideas, a catalyst and a digital archive for work on current themes.

open call °°2
Unlimited Landscapes

What if you could rethink landscape – without boundaries of education, discipline or title? Landscape today is a crossroads between city and nature, between humans and systems, between disciplines. Landscape architecture, architecture, interior architecture, urbanism and spatial planning: all approach space in their own way, with their own tools, perspectives and sensitivities. But what happens when they come together in the design of a landscape?

On the pursuit of a more inclusive city
