The inconsistency of watch travel (*)
A perforation along either side refutes sitting and introduces carrying. Pie is subjected to hyperinteractivation (**). We as a community guard, cutting personnel, at a bridge with the laws of an Icelandic roundabout (***).
The inconsistency of guard travel was part of Nebula life on the occasion of Archipel’s 45th anniversary in the entrance hall of the S.M.A.K.. Maalstroom selected architecture students Neeka Van de Woestijne and Lise van der Knaap’s physical response to a connecting issue between inside and outside: a seesaw with balance point localised in the window frame. Where Neeka and Lise searched for a form of balance in sitting, we appointed the inclination as the external conductor of the approach and consequently of the de-duplicated queue. The conductor who more than often thinks about staying sane and dares to reconsider balance to the rhythm of her surroundings. She leans to the beat of the cake queue.

“We were commissioned to create a new space within an existing space: a defined space for two people. The chosen space, with tall windows and an outdoor area, inspired us to make the transition from indoor to outdoor central. We designed a structure reminiscent of a seesaw: a walking, climbing and sitting board with a single pivot point in the window frame. Keeping balance only works by communicating well with each other. At the end, we attached ropes to an I-beam, which simultaneously provide handholds for climbing up the plank. The construction is made entirely of reversible connections. The result is an object that allows us to experience the transition from inside to outside in a dynamic and playful way.”
