Natura Naturans (Vers une nature)

Stadsbibliotheek De Krook (Zaal De Blauwe Vogel)

The opening of the public library ‘De Krook’ gives Archipel the opportunity to focus on the work of Coussée and Goris architects. After a tour in the building, a lecture will follow with the title “Natura Naturans (vers une nature)”.

At the end of November we are going to a brand new building with a long history of origin: the city library De Krook in Ghent, handed by Coussée and Goris i.s.m. RCR Arquitectes. After a moved first phase in 2004, five teams will be selected in a renewed competition for the new construction, renovation and re-destination: Schmidt Hammer Lassen, Toyo Ito, Van Berkel and Bos, TV RCR Arquitectes – Coussée and Goris and TV Mateus – Beel.

The winning project of the Flemish-Catalan team leaves from a very strong relationship between the new building and the various components in the broader environment. It is a very horizontal design, made up of different levels, each with its own function. The new building also contains a ‘creek’ which creates a new public square at the level of Korianderstraat and Platteberg. The opening of the building is the reason to look into the work of Coussée and Goris architects.

After a tour in the building, a lecture is under the heading “Natura Naturans (Vers une Nature)”.
With a quote from Spinoza, Klaas Goris reveals a tip of the veil about the insertion of the lecture. “It’s time for nature to be naturally nonsense, and for the sake of life, and for the sake of the sake of the matter, it is the essence of the essence of eternal and infinity.” _
