Named Architecture Capital 2026, Barcelona is renowned as one of the world’s most dynamic cities for architecture, where history, experimentation and urban innovation are in constant dialogue. During this four-day trip, we will discover the city through a refreshing lens, with full guidance focusing on innovation, sustainable solutions and the principles of contemporary design.
The programme brings together a carefully selected mix of projects: from pioneering residential complexes and experimental renovations to cultural institutions and public buildings. Iconic examples such as Ricardo Bofill’s Walden 7 demonstrate how social and architectural experiments go hand in hand, while projects by young, emerging architectural firms such as BAAS Arquitectura, Lacol and H Arquitectes show how contemporary urban planning and the use of materials can be applied in innovative and sustainable ways. Transformations of historic and industrial buildings also illustrate the power of adaptive reuse.
In addition to physically exploring the buildings, the emphasis is on substantive reflection. Guided tours by architects provide insight into the design principles, spatial strategies and innovative solutions behind the projects. Cultural institutions such as SUMA’s Biblioteca Gabriel Garcia Marquez (winner of the EUmies Awards 2024) or Flores y Prats’ Sala Beckett theatre offer insight into how architecture can enhance public experience and urban identity. At the same time, projects such as La Borda + Park and other sustainable housing initiatives promote awareness of ecological and social responsibility in design.
As Architecture Capital 2026, Barcelona offers a unique context to experience how the city positions itself as a laboratory for contemporary and future architectural practice. This trip is not a standard sightseeing tour: the combination of guidance in a group of like-minded architecture enthusiasts makes the trip an intensive experience that deepens the creative thinking and vision of each participant.

When registering, you can indicate your preference for sharing a room. Unless another traveller with the same preference registers, you will be booked into a single room subject to a supplement. If, after confirmation of a roommate, the roommate cancels the trip, the single supplement will remain payable by the travelling person.

Register

After registering, you must pay a deposit of €1,200 per person to confirm your participation. Please transfer this amount to account number BE25 7350 4701 5682 in the name of PLANOPLI bvba, stating ‘BARCELONA’ + the name(s) of the participant(s).
This transfer will finalise your registration. PLANOPLI bvba will then send you an order form.
By registering, you accept the travel conditions stated in the programme and confirm that Archipel is not responsible for any accidents.

Being or becoming a member of Archipel is a prerequisite for participating in our architecture trips.

Package Travel Act & insurance
The amendment to the Package Travel Act of 1 July 2018 now also affects travel insurance.
For group travel, this means that from 1 January 2020, travel assistance, cancellation and luggage insurance will no longer be available for groups.
It will only be available on an individual basis; for this, it is best to contact your own insurance company.
