Mario Botta (°Mendrisio, April 1st, 1943) is a Swiss architect.
He studied at the Liceo Artistico in Milan and the Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice. His ideas were influenced by Le Corbusier, Carlo Scarpa and Louis Kahn. He started his own architectural practice in 1970 in Lugano, Switzerland. Along with Aurelio Galfetti, Luigi Snozzi and Livio Vacchini he forms part of the “Ticino School.
