UNStudio
UNStudio is an architectural firm based in Amsterdam. The office was founded in 1988 by architect Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos under the name Van Berkel en Bos Architectenbureau. In 1998 it was given its current name, which stands for United Network.
Bernard Franciscus (Ben) van Berkel (°Utrecht, January 25, 1957) (Professor, Arch., AA Dipl. (Hons), (F)RIBA, Hon. FAIA) studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and graduated in 1987 with honors from the Architectural Association in London.
Caroline Bos (°Rotterdam, 1959) obtained her Bachelor of Arts in art history from Birkbeck University of London in 1991. She obtained her master’s degree in architecture from Utrecht University. In London she met her current husband and partner, Ben van Berkel. Bos writes and teaches at various architectural courses. Her architectural drawings and models are exhibited in various museums, including MoMa.
