Miralles Tagliabue
Benedetta Tagliabue – EMBT is an architectus office, founded in 1994 by Enric Miralles (1955-2000) and Benedetta Tagliabue in Barcelona.
Enric Miralles Moya (°25 February 1955 – †3 July 2000) graduated from the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 1978. From 1973 to 1978 he worked in the architect’s office of Albert Viaplana and Helio Piñón. In 1984 after several architectural competition awards, he formed his own office in Barcelona with his first wife Carme Pinós, which they led together until 1991.
Benedetta Tagliabue (°Milano, 23 June 1963) graduated from the Istituto Universitaria di Architettura di Venezia in 1989. Benedetta Tagliabue teaches at the University of Architecture ETSAB (Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona) in Barcelona and lectures regularly in architectural forums. In 2004, Tagliabue received an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Napier University and she is a member of The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
EMBT Architects has received the Catalan National prize in 2002, the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2005, the National Spanish Prize in 2006, the City of Barcelona Prize in 2005 and 2009, FAD prizes in 2000, 2003 and 2007, and WAF prizes in 2010 and 2011.
